Board Application
🌐 Dear Asian Youth is looking to expand the Board of Directors so DAY can steer to a sustainable future.
We are looking for highly experienced individuals in the following key areas:
Experience with Policy: expertise in American politics, U.S. policy and U.S. foreign relations, or international policy.
Experience in Finance: community development, 501(c)(3) governance, donor relations, and interested in serving as Board treasurer.
Experience in Advocacy: nominees with a focus on community organizing, activism, and advocacy are welcome.
Experience in Academia: scholars specializing in global Asian studies, political science, anthropology, religious studies, or sociology.
Experience with non-profit law: non-profit law, governance knowledge, and awareness of good governance practices
Being a member of DAY’s Board entails:
As a Board member, you'll provide oversight to ensure DAY's sustainability, engage in strategic decision-making, and ensure actions align with our mission and values. You'll build relationships with partners and donors, attend Board meetings, oversee the Executive Director, and uphold legal and ethical standards.
All Board Members must serve at least 1 term of 2 years. There are no limits on serving additional terms.
Board Members will meet every month for 1 hour at a time. Meetings will be held virtually.
Board members are requested to give 3 hours of their time monthly for asynchronous work outside of Board meetings
Non-US nominees are particularly encouraged and welcome.
Note: While we are a youth-led team, we are specifically looking for individuals with seasoned career experience to join our Board of Directors.
For youth interested in joining DAY, we encourage you to keep an eye out for our other roles when our recruitment cycle re-opens in June.
